Celebrate the Magic: Light Up the Season Returns to Downtown Hayward!

Join us for a spectacular evening of multicultural holiday celebration as the City of Hayward, Hayward Chamber of Commerce and the Bay Area Backyard Movement proudly present Light Up the Season on Saturday, December 7. This beloved community tradition transforms the City Hall rotunda and plaza into a winter wonderland of lights, music, and festive cheer.

This year's expanded celebration honors our city's rich diversity through the winter traditions of many cultures, including Twin Luminaries, Mawlid al-Nabi, Chalica, Bodhi Day, Las Posadas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Lohri, and Pongal. Each tradition reminds us that even in the darkest nights, hope and light prevail.

Event Highlights:

• NEW! Winter Night Market featuring 30+ local vendors offering:
• Artisanal holiday gifts
• Global cuisine and seasonal treats
• Handcrafted goods
• Live performances by local schools and community groups
• Grand Tree Lighting Ceremony at sundown (5:00 PM)
• Visit from Curbie, the Hayward Public Library bookmobile
• Interactive cultural displays and activities
